Bhandardara is a rustic hill resort in the Western Ghats of Ahmednagar district in the state of Maharashtra. A far cry from the typical life of the cities is a hill resort like Bhandardara that gives a back to nature milieu, both for a tourist who needs a cool relaxation with hardly anything to do, or for one who loves to explore and imbibe the freshness of the cool mountain air. With rolling hills peaked with ruins of ancient forts and carpeted with wild seasonal orchids, yellow Sonki and violet Karwi flowers, with butterflies and bees buzzing around, Bhandardara is the apt place to spend a weekend holiday.

Trek up Mt.Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra, go on a pilgrimage to the temples, sit by the campfire on the banks of the picturesque Lake Arthur or go firefly watching in pre monsoon. Bhandardara has a simple laid back rural setting that is suitable for a quick weekend getaway or a relaxed holiday.

Weather and Best Time to Visit

Bhandardara is a lovely place to visit through the year, but the monsoons and winters are more charming and pleasant than summers. Read on to know why.

Summer (March – June):

Summers are hot and rather humid and are not the favorable time for tourism. People do visit Bhandardara in summer to get away from the warmth of the plains. Pre monsoon showers in May and June are ideal to watch the fire flies.

Monsoon (July – September):

Monsoon turns the land into a paradise of greenery and these rainy months are some of the best times to spend in Bhandardara. But the showers do come in heavy and play a spoilsport to a lot of outdoor activities like trekking and rappelling.

Winter (October – February):

Winter with cold nights and partly sunny and cool days are the best months to explore the region and indulge in outdoor adventures as well as trip to the hill stations and pilgrim towns in the neighbourhood.
