Denmark Weather And Best Time To Visit Denmark

Planning A Trip To Denmark? Here's a snapshot of Denmark weather and the best time to visit Denmark

Denmark, one of the most lowland countries of the Scandinavian region, is a collection of islands around a peninsula, and beautiful beyond imagination. Located in the Jutland Peninsula, the country of Denmark sees a very temperate marine weather, with mild winters and easy summers, with very high levels of humidity. Rain falls freely, and quite a lot here, hence making it impertinent for one to take into account the best seasons to visit Denmark.

Spring (March to May)

Spring comes late to Denmark, as the month of March still has a bit of leftover frost from the winter. By the end of March though, the air does warm up quite a bit, and night temperatures rise too. Rainfall and snowfall are almost gone by the peak of spring and the capital sees a high of 10°C by April. Winds are still quite gusty though, and periodic dips can be felt. May though is extremely beautiful and pleasant, with blooming flowers and greening trees all around. The temperature in May rises to around 15°C in the peninsula. This is definitely the best time to visit Denmark.

Summer (June to September)

Summers in Denmark mean rainfall. By the end of the season, the intensity of precipitation is very high, with the average daily temperatures of 20°C. By evening cool breezes dramatically alter the landscapes and the temperature does fall back to 7-13°C. Mid summer in other Scandinavian countries is blinding with sunlight for most part of the day, but Denmark, being far south in comparison, sees a midnight sun for very few days, rising at around 3.30 am and setting by 9 pm at most. Summer might be a good time to visit but the rains may spoil some of the fun.

Autumn (October to November)

Autumn is marked by a dip in temperatures from summer and sees some chilly, windy rains. There is literal outpouring and it rains cats and dogs in October. The streets are still littered with fiery golden leaves and on odd days when rains decide to give respite, the smell of the cooling fresh earth tingles the nostrils. The temperature remains in the 10s and November makes it even colder, almost leaving the nights to freezing point.

Winter (December to February)

Winters in Denmark are characterised by sub zero temperatures, falling to -5°C by the middle of the season. The cold in Denmark is not owing to the height of snow or frost or even the temperate zone, but due to the fact that there is relatively very high humidity in the air, with a thick cloud cover and even rainy weather most days. Hence this is not the best time to visit Denmark because the haze of cold, frost and rains hardly ever lifts to give you a peek of the country. Sunlight penetrates by 9.30 am and is gone by 4.30 pm. February is the coldest month in Denmark and snowfall is common. But the snow settles in a week or two and melts by the third week.
