Along with the neighbouring Nagarhole National Park, Mudumalai and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuaries, Bandipur becomes one of the largest protected areas for wildlife in South India, especially for elephants.
Bandipur lies about 80 km from Mysore, enroute to the tourist hill station of Ooty. The best way of getting to Bandipur would be to travel by train to Mysore and by road from Mysore to Bandipur National Park.
