The nearest airport from Berhampur is located in the capital city Bhubaneswar – the Biju Patnaik International Airport. It is situated around 170 km away from Berhampur, and there are buses and taxis available from the airport to reach Berhampur directly. There are more than 25 trains that connect Bhubaneswar to Berhampur and operate on a daily basis; people who choose to stay over in the capital for a while after getting here also have the option of reaching Berhampur in a couple of hours by simply catching a train.

Berhampur has its own railway station that connects it to all major cities across the country through regularly operating trains. The Berhampur Railway Station is part of the East Coast Railways; the railhead is one of the stops on the lines from Kolkata and Chennai, with Bhubaneswar just around two and a half hours away. There are also few direct trains that run between Puri and Berhampur.
