How To Reach Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

Pembrokeshire, encompassed by Carmarthenshire to the east and Ceredigion on the northeastern side, with the sea everywhere else, is a county in Wales, southwest region. Inclusive of numerous sandy beaches and bays, Pembrokeshire is home to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the only park in the United Kingdom that includes the 190 mile Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and occupies nearly 1/3rd of the county’s area. Considered no less of a haven for its watersport adventures, fresh seafood and gorgeous coastal walks amidst the picturesque landscape, the wild & beautiful Pembrokeshire has over 50 beaches, coves & harbors with a fine assortment of villages and vibrant cities and St. Davids, one of Britain’s smallest cities. One of the best ways of reaching Pembrokeshire is to take a flight from Delhi to Cardiff and then making the onward journey via train.

It takes roughly 19 hours and 34 minutes to reach Pembrokeshire from New Delhi (inclusive of about 3 hours & a few minutes of transfers). At an estimated fare of INR 44,000-1,30,000, you can fly aboard Qatar Airways, Air France or KLM to Cardiff Airport and then on arrival there, take a bus to Cardiff, Canal Street. From Canal Street, take a train to Clarbeston Road. Alternatively, you can fly to Bristol/Manchester/London Heathrow or Birmingham and then further ahead by train.

On arrival at Cardiff Airport, you will find a bus leaving for Canal Street every 35 minutes. From Canal Street, it’s a 4-minute walk to the Cardiff Central Train Station, from where you can board a train for Clarbeston Road (Pembrokeshire). The train journey costs roughly INR 2,700-4,200 and is about 2 hours and 19 minutes long. Transport for Wales and the Great Western Railways operate on this route.

The journey time between Cardiff and Pembrokeshire on a bus takes about 3 ½ hours, while if you drive or uber, then it’d take you approx. an hour and 48 minutes. At an estimated fare of INR 600-800, you can find the National Express Coach Service operating on the route with a bus daily. You need to board the bus from Cardiff Coach Station, Sophia to Haverfordwest.

Getting around Pembrokeshire is relatively easy and doesn’t really require any driving around. You can just hail a bus and move up and down the coast. With some really cool names like the Puffin Shuttle, Strumble, Celtic Coaster, Poppit Rocket and Coastal Cruiser, the coastal bus services run 7 days a week from May through September and then twice a week during winters. All buses operate on a hail and ride signal and you can get picked up from, or dropped off at any place along the bus’s route on request.
