Bodrum Weather And Best Time To Visit Bodrum

Planning A Trip To Bodrum? Here's a snapshot of Bodrum weather and the best time to visit Bodrum

Bodrum is one of Turkey's hidden delights. A city that is as beautiful as the people in it. Weather in Bodrum is warm and pleasant almost all year round. Even the winters are not as harsh as other parts of Turkey. The ideal time to visit Bodrum would be in the summers, when the beach is at its buzzing best. However, apart from the beach (since it's a coastal city), Bodrum is rich in other cultural & historical activities as well and you can enjoy them any time of the year.

Spring, with its colourful flowers, is a beautiful time to visit this waterfront city. The wind still has a nip from the winter but is pleasant enough for you to enjoy all activities. The average temperature rises from 15°C in March to 25°C by May, with just a slight chance of rain. It is the second busiest season for tourists.

Some of the seasonal festivals you can experience at this time are Hidirellez, Crocus, Betnem and Nevruz. Also every year in May, a Bicycle Festival is held, which has many dance shows, live musical performances and other activities throughout the day.

Summer (June to August)

Bodrum summers are quite pleasant compared to the rest of Turkey. While the sun is hot, the humidity levels make it easier to bear. The average temperature is between 25°C to 30°C, with hardly any chance of rain. You can see daylight for up to 14 hours during this period and spend your vacation lying on the sandy shores of the sparkling blue Aegean sea. However, this is the peak season for tourists, so you can expect a lot of crowds.

The Turgutreis Commemoration Festival happens on June 23rd every year while the Pedasa Festival is usually held during the last week of August. 30th of August see's the Victory Festival, which is a National festival of Bodrum with participation from the zeybeks and seymens in their special costumes along with folk dances and drums. A Ballet festival is also held in August with concerts & performances held in the ancient amphitheatres of Bodrum.

Autumn (September to November)

You can enjoy the beach and warm weather in September when the winds have not yet changed. But come October, the cool winds will start making the water cold and by November, a dip in the beach may not be so pleasant. However, there are still plenty of other activities to do, and even if you can't go into the water - just spending a few hours on the beach is always nice! You can expect an average temperature of 28°C in September, going down to 20°C in November. There is still not much rain during this period - except for maybe 3-4 days per month.

Festivities that can be enjoyed during this period include Turkbuku Culture & Art Festival in September and Traditional Wooden Boat races in October.

Winter (December to February)

Surprisingly, winter in Bodrum is still quite pleasant, as the temperature does not go into negative. It averages a pleasant 10°C to 15°C, with about 10-15 days of rain. Snow is not expected here. If the rain dampens a beach day for you, you can enjoy indoor activities at the many cafes and pubs that Bodrum has to offer, along with all its historical and architectural wonders. Some sightseeing places close early during winter so make note of all the timings before you travel.

There aren't any annual events that take place during this period. But New Year is always celebrated with a lot of joy all over the world and the already thriving nightlife of Bodrum might just perk up during this time.
