Braga is the 3rd largest city in Portugal and also the religious and spiritual capital of the country. In a sense one can say that it is the equivalent of what Rome is to Italy. It is steeped in deep and rich history and culture. It continues to grow in stature as a tourist hotspot. The city is best reached via air and locally via either rail or road. The transportation systems are well-connected to and from the city which makes travel that much easier. Tourism in Braga reaches its maximum around the summer season and the best time to visit is anywhere between April to October.
In terms of places to visit, they range from the historic structures with lookout points to incredibly special public gardens. This includes landmarks like the Braga Cathedral, Antigo Paco Esparal and Bom Jesus Do Monte to name a few. All in all, the city may be small in size, but has a personality and character, one that continues to see visitors return over and over again. To learn more, check out this travel guide.

Shopping is not too bad in Braga either. There are a decent combination of malls along with smaller boutique stores. Additionally, there are also a number of marketplaces that are more traditional and might be a welcome change for visitors looking for local artefacts and accessories. However, other than that, Braga is not big on shopping.
