Corfu, or Kerkyra as it is also known, is an island off the west coast of Greece and the 2nd largest island amongst the Ionian Islands. The island has a rich past like most of Greece and has a history of battles and conquests. You can take a taxi or a bus to get to the destination of your choosing.

Corfu is located just off the north-west coast of Greece, close to the town of Igoumenítsa. There are many ferries from Igoumenítsa that travel daily to Corfu and back - the journey takes 1 to 2 hours depending on the type of ferry you take. You can reach Igoumenítsa by road from Athens or any other Greek city.

Corfu is also connected to the city of Patras, Zakynthos and Kefalonia by ferry - however, not as frequently. There are also many direct boats to Corfu from the east coast of Italy.

Corfu is an island so you will need to travel by sea. However, you can travel all the way up to Igoumenítsa in Greece by road and then take the ferry to Corfu. A bus from Athens would take roughly 7 hours. If you are already travelling within Greece, you can also get a bus from any other city like Patras, Thessaloniki, Ioannina etc.

The other alternative is to drive down to Igoumenítsa. If it is a rental car, you can also ferry it across to Corfu for an extra charge.
