How To Reach Mykonos
Planning A Trip To Mykonos? Here are some guidelines on how to reach Mykonos
The party island Mykonos is one of the most popular islands of Greece. It is an island within the Cyclades group of islands and is most famous for its beach parties and traditional white and blue houses and picturesque windmills. The best way to reach Mykonos is by the sea because then your trip starts right from the moment you step onto that ferry! Mykonos is a very touristy island, so it is fairly easy to travel there and during high seasons, the frequency of flights and ferries increase.

The best way to travel to Mykonos from India is to go via Athens. There are plenty of flights to the Greek Capital and from there, there are approximately 18 flights to Mykonos on a daily basis - especially during the summer season, when the tourists are pouring in. The flight from Athens to Mykonos takes about 35 minutes. Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines are the domestic airlines that fly to Mykonos from Athens. You can also fly to Mykonos directly from other European cities like Paris, Rome, Dublin, Amsterdam and even London.

Taking a Ferry to Mykonos enhances the experience so much more and is totally worth the few extra hours. You can take a ferry from the port of Piraeus near Athens. During the summers, there are about 4 ferries that travel to Mykonos each day taking between 2 to 5 hours, depending on which ferry service you choose. The ferries are more time consuming than the flight, but more budget friendly. The ferries are also quite spacious and comfortable and are a great way to experience the beauty of the Aegean Sea.
Once you reach the port at Mykonos, you can hire a taxi to take you to your hotel. If your hotel is inside Mykonos Town, then taking a sea-taxi would be ideal.
Getting Around

A lot of the tourist attractions in Mykonos are within the Mykonos Town and can be easily accessed by foot. In fact, most of the narrow streets in the town are pedestrian only. But if you want to go outside the town, the best way to get around is by bus. The island has a good system of connecting the town with different beaches through its public bus service. All the bus services go via Chora (Mykonos town), so this is the best point to start. Another alternative is to hire a bike or a moped.
Taxis are quite expensive here, but you may need to use them for longer travel (especially with luggage). Renting a car is quite pointless because parking is not easily available.
