Mykonos Weather And Best Time To Visit Mykonos
Planning A Trip To Mykonos? Here's a snapshot of Mykonos weather and the best time to visit Mykonos
Mykonos is a Greek Island with a typical Mediterranean climate. It has also earned the nickname 'The Island of the Winds'. There is sunshine for about 300 days of the year! The best time to visit Mykonos is between April and October to enjoy beach activities and pleasant weather. Mykonos tourism is the main industry here and during the peak summer months, it can get very crowded.
Spring (March to May)

Spring starts out a bit chilly with an average temperature between 10 to 16°C. But as the days go by, it gets warmer and by May the weather is almost as warm as summer with an average of 22°C. There is only a short period of warmth before the summer crowd starts to arrive by late May. There may be infrequent activities & transport during these months because of lesser tourists, but it is still very enjoyable and is recommended for people who want to avoid crowds.
There are no specific events or festivals that are celebrated during this season.

Summer is a very happening season at Mykonos. Not only is it hugely popular with honeymooners and family vacationers this time of the year for its beautiful weather but it is also jam-packed with party goers as Mykonos is famous for its wild beach parties! The average temperature is around 25°C. The beaches are ripe for swimming, sun-bathing and water-sports.
The Mykonos Summer Festival held during these months include many exciting events like theatrical performances, art exhibitions and open-air concerts. An annual festival for the LGBT community is held around the end of August each year.
Autumn (September to November)

To get the best of both worlds, September & October is probably the best time to visit the island. The weather is still pleasant and warm and there are beach parties organised up to mid-October. But the crowds start depleting, which makes it more favourable. September is almost like the summer months, but October onwards the climate cools down faster with an average temperature of 19°C and a nip in the air. Many hotels start shutting down in October and tour agencies offer lesser services, so plan your trip well in advance.
Autumn usually is the time for harvests, so you can enjoy some good wine-tasting during these months with the Grape Harvest.
Winter (December to February)

Winter is the slowest tourist season for Mykonos, but that doesn't mean it is empty. The island is popular all year round and even though the weather is quite chilly, it is still good to enjoy many activities (just apart from swimming perhaps?!). The lowest the temperature goes down to is usually 7°C in January with a high of 11°C - which is still much warmer than other parts of Greece. Snow is hardly expected but it can rain. It can also get violently windy which makes the weather feel cooler than it actually is.
No annual festivals or events are celebrated during these months.
