Planning A Trip To Naxos? Here's a snapshot of Naxos weather and the best time to visit Naxos

Naxos is located centrally amidst the Cyclades islands, south of the Greek mainland. It is a very popular holiday destination for tourists from across the globe, famously for its pristine beachs and vast history. The weather in Naxos is typical to the other islands in the area where the summers are bright and sunny with a high of 27°C in July with cool winters that go down to 16°C in January. The ideal time to visit Naxos is when the temperature is warm enough to enjoy all its beaches - i.e. April to October.

Visiting Naxos in spring is a great choice, as you can enjoy mild weather and the hordes of tourists haven't yet set in. The countryside is green and the beaches are welcoming. Many of the beach resorts close for the winter, but they start opening from April onwards. The average temperature in April is 19°C and by May this goes to 22°C. There may be a few days of rain, but nothing too harsh.

Easter is celebrated in a big way around the island and the Naxos Carnival is trying to make a come back which usually takes place in early March.

Naxos is thriving during the summer! The warm sunny weather calls out to tourists from across the world who come on cruise ships or who stay on the island for a few days. Many of the beaches tend to get overcrowded, but the vibe is positive and full of energy. Watersport activities are in full swing. The average temperature is 27.7°C and there is no rain during this season. High winds are expected from July to September.

There are many religious festivals celebrated throughout the summer months, starting from late May up to early September and the Naxathlon triathlon is held every August. Apart from these, there are music festivals, cultural events, open-air performances, art exhibitions, plays and much more that also happen throughout these months. Look out for events that take place at the Bazeos Tower - an annual event for over 20 years!

Autumn (September to November)

Autumn brings with it lovely shades of orange that do make for pretty pictures. Hiking trails are a fantastic activity to indulge yourself in - especially during the later part of the season when the water might get too cold. September and even early October are still warm with an average of 23° to 25° C, but post that, there is a chill in the air which makes the waters cold and not the aptest for swimming - though people do still swim. Some light showers can be expected.

The Dionysia Festival is usually held during the first weekend of September where there are many concerts, theatrical performances, art exhibitions and other events held. Also, the Rakee Distillery Festival is conducted in September every year.

Winters bring upon a more romantic side of the island. Beaches are quite empty and offer privacy for young couples and honeymooners who are just looking to enjoy a quiet romantic evening with a mesmerising sunset. Most beach resorts are shut, but you can still find a few bars and restaurants open that are open all year round. The average temperature is 14°C with about 5-6 days of rain every month.

There aren't any specific annual events held during the winter months
