How To Reach Lucerne
Planning A Trip To Lucerne? Here are some guidelines on how to reach Lucerne
Lucerne is a busy town situated in Central Switzerland and is the most populous city in that region. Like most Swiss cities, Lucerne too has landscapes galore as it is situated near Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi - so you can get the glorious swiss alps in all its glory, and the lake Lucerne and river Reuss also make for some picturesque backdrops. Since Lucerne is closer to the German border than the French, the common language here is a local dialect of German. The best way to reach Lucerne is by train from Zurich as there is no airport at Lucerne.

Note that while the driving may be easy, finding public parking space can be difficult and expensive! If you are looking for public transport like buses, Lucerne is well connected with Basel and Ticino with daily routes. There are also many international buses from nearby European cities that come all the way to Lucerne. However, for long-distance, using the train would be a better option. Getting Around

Lucerne is not a very large town and the main town centre, which has some places of interest, can be explored on foot - or if you don't want to walk at all, you can use public transport. Since parking is a big hassle, it is best not to use private cars, unless you have a driver, but even then it can get expensive sometimes. There are convenient day passes for buses that will suit your needs to explore the town. Some hotels also give you a free pass if you stay at their hotel! Taxis are available but are quite expensive. Bikes are another fun way to get around Lucerne and the city is very safe for bicyclists.
