The ferry is undoubtedly the most popular and convenient way of reaching the islands. The ferries mostly run from common places like Phuket, Rai Leh, Koh Lanta and Krabi. Tourists coming from Phuket or Krabi airport can avail their ferries or speedboats from Rassada Pier, port of Phuket; while tourists coming from Krabi can reach Klong Jirad Pier, which is the common ferry terminal of Krabi. Tourists coming from Phuket would take around 2 hours and from Krabi or Koh Lanta it might take about 90 minutes.

Tourists can also opt for private speedboats for a quicker journey. Speedboats are usually private charter, so they offer better services as the departure and drop off points are more flexible than ferries. Speedboats are apparently costlier than ferries but are an exciting option. Speedboats should be avoided during low seasons as they might not be reliable. Other than that, there are also private vessels available for tourists coming to Phi Phi.

Since Phi Phi is an archipelago, it does not have any roadways connecting with the world. The group of six islands is connected by ferries and not roads, thus people visiting the islands are suggested to be prepared for walking around the islands. However, there is local transport available in Phi Phi to wander around. Motorcycles can be hired and seen rushing around the island. However, the best way to wander around the islands is on foot or by bicycles as all areas are within reach and would not take more than 10 minutes to reach.

Tourists can also hire bicycles to roam around the islands. Phi Phi promotes eco-friendly atmosphere and thus doesn’t promote any sort of personal diesel-running vehicles.
