Summer is warm and humid. April and May are at the zenith of summer, but it’s still warm and the temperature hardly goes beyond 26°C- 35°C. But the weather turns pleasing by sunset as cool breeze blows in from the seas. There is intermittent mango or pre-monsoon rain that increases the humidity, but also brings down the temperature considerably. It’s a good period for water sports like surfing and swimming, as the seas are generally calmer. If you visit Kanyakumari in summer, don’t miss out on the flocks of pink Greater Flamingos that swarm over the Manakkudy estuary. Summer is the next best time to visit Kanyakumari.
Monsoon (June-November)

Unlike the other regions of Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari gets intermittent to heavy thundershowers from both the southwest and the northeast monsoons. Sightseeing might be difficult and so would the adventure sports, ferry rides and travel in general. Monsoon is off season in Kanyakumari, but if you are in in town by October don’t miss out on the feisty Cape Festival. Temperature ranges 24°C-30°C.
