The months of July and August have heavy rainfall with occasional thundershowers that patter down to intermittent rainfall in September. The rains make travel and sightseeing difficult and any kind of adventure tourism faces a damper.
In spite of the rains, tourists and locals gather at Nagpur for the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities in the Ganesh mandirs in town. If you are planning to visit Nagpur during the monsoons, do equip yourself with comfortable rain gear including umbrellas and a raincoat.

Winters are the best season to visit Nagpur. The days are pleasant and enjoyable with a light sunshine, and the nights are cooler still; so you might want to pack in warm winter clothes. Nagpur has numerous natural places, like gardens, a plethora of lakes, and wildlife sanctuaries that are best visited in charming winters.
Temperatures could drop down to 10°C during winter and it is a tad cold, especially in the month of January. But October, when winter begins, is a charming month with warm sunshine and light drizzle and you can expect the city to wake up to the light and sounds of a festive Durga Puja. Winter is a good time to indulge in water sports or go sightseeing.
