National Chambal Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary that spreads across three different regions of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It protects some of the most endangered species in the world like the ghariyal, mugger crocodiles, red crowned roof turtle, gangetic dolphin and many more creatures. Kheria Airport on Agra is the closest airport if you have to go to National Chambal Sanctuary. This airport is distanced at 107.7 km from the entrance of the sanctuary. Many flight carriers transport passengers from different cities to this airport. You can take public transportation to your destination after you reach the airport.

 

By Road:

The best way to reach National Chambal Sanctuary is via NH 45 that leads to the sanctuary if you are coming from adjacent cities. You can take a bus run by the state or a luxury bus from other states to reach your destination near the sanctuary.

 

By Rail:

The closes railhead to National Chambal Sanctuary is Dhaulpur Railway Station; this station is located at a distance of 92.7 km from the sanctuary and is the most convenient way to get there. There are many trains from here that run from here to different cities in India and vice versa.

Summer (April-June):

Summers in National Chambal Sanctuary are very hot and humid and this is not the recommended time to visit the place. Temperature in this season range from 30°C -45°C throughout and there is not much wildlife activity during this time either.

 

Monsoon (July-October):

The rains calm down the region as it starts to become cool during these months. Temperatures during monsoons in National Chambal Sanctuary range from 27°C-32°C, making it much cooler than the summers. This is a great time to visit if you want to see lush greenery.

 

Winter (November-March):

Bateshwar Temples:

Bateshwar Temples is a temple complex that consists of several small temples that are mostly dedicated to Lord Shiva. This was also the birth place of Lord Krishna which makes it a highly religious place for many. This temple complex is located a few kilometers away from the sanctuary and is a great attraction.

 

Talab-e-Shahi:

Talab-e-Shahi, along with the Khanpur Mahal is a popular attraction amongst people who visit this region. A manmade lake has been contructed with a palace right beside it; this used to be the shooting lodge for Prince Shah Jahan back in the day. This lake is also where you can spot many migratory birds.

 

Ramsagar Sanctuary:

Stretching over 34.4 sq km, the Ramsagar is a small sanctuary that was established in 1955. There is a lake right beside the sanctuary which is called Ransagar and you can spot several migratory birds coming to breed, especially during winter.

 

Go on a Safari:

The best way to explore the sanctuary is to go on a safari; you can choose from a jeep safari, boat safari or a camel safari. All these different safaris have unique characteristics and is enjoyed by any age group. Make sure you go on a safari to see these critters in their natural habitat.

At this fair you can shop various local items like furniture, bags, textile, souvenirs and handicrafts; this is the bets place to buy local items from.
