The summer season starts from March and continues up until June. The temperature averages in the range of 24°C to 15°C. The weather is pleasant to take up the trek along the David Scott’s trail. You could also probably go for a quiet boating expedition in Umiam Lake or kayaking at Kynshi River. Even if you encounter unexpected drizzle, it will only add a charming delight to your entire experience.

You can witness the exotic beauty of Shillong during monsoon. Monsoon arrives by June and continues till September. The waterfalls will be at their roaring best with lakes in natural shades of blue and green. But if you want to play it safe then probably you can visit some local cafes like Café Shillong that thrives with local music and food that gives you the essence of the place and its culture. Some of the other food places you can try are Café Shillong Heritage or the Police Bazaar where you get to chance upon the street food. Experience some local Khasi food at Jadoh or Sao Aim. The heavy rains and scrumptious food will surely not dampen your holiday spirit.
Winter (November to February)

The winter season starts from November and goes on until February. December and January experience quite a chilled weather, and temperature can dip to 2°C. Though the season will make you want to be indoors, you can use the time to explore the Don Bosco Museum or the All Saint’s Cathedral which is the oldest church in the town.
