Ranakpur's iconic 15th century Jain Temple is at the top of every list. It is one of the most important pilgrim destinations for the Jain community and also a very popular tourist attraction for others. The temple has an astounding architecture that simply can’t be described. The many pillars, legends say 1444, are some of the most impressive works in the temple as each one is engraved in great detail. The temple also houses some beautiful sculptures, some that are carved out of the walls themselves. There is an accompanying ancient temple close to the Jain Temple, the Sun Temple. Constructed in the 13th century, the Sun Temple has a style of architecture resembling the main Jain Temple with pillars and domes carved out of light marble. The Ranakpur Dam is a place that is often missed by most tourists, which is a pity as it encompasses a stunning view of the valley and the hills beyond. The location is quite peaceful and has plenty of space for exploration.
