Key Monastery

Even if you are not one of the most spiritually inclined persons, do include this in your itinerary when visiting Kaza. This thousand year old Tibetan Monastery is located 4166 meters above sea level, about 12 km from Kaza atop a hill. The walls are adorned with beautiful paintings, murals, inscriptions of manuscripts and stucco images. In the month of June and July the monastery celebrates a festival where the Chaam dancers are joined by lamas to perform a dance.
Chandratal Lake

Located at a height of 4300 m, the Chandratal Lake is a sheer beauty that sweeps tourists off their feet. Blessed with mind-blowing panoramic views and crystal blue waters of the lake, Chandratal has over the years become a hot favourite among campers and trekkers. Komic Village

This tiny little village is situated at a staggering altitude of 15,027 feet above sea-level. The highest village in the world with a motorable road, Komic is located a mere 18 km from Kaza. The winding steep roads ensure a rather adventurous trip from Kaza to Komik. Apart from the obvious beautiful surroundings, the village has a monastery to visit. It is also very rich in fossil life and is famous for the ancient fossils that you come across here. A trip to Komik is an experience of a lifetime and should not be missed.
Dhankar Lake

This is another little gem one comes across in the Spiti valley. The lake is situated above the Dhankar village at an altitude of 4140 m. The stunning lake in the middle of the hills surrounded by barren land with patches of greens here and there renders tourists speechless. The panoramic view that one is greeted with in Dhankar Lake can capture the imagination of all and leave an indelible imprint on the hearts of the travellers.
Kunzum Pass

The Kunzum Pass or Kunzum La holds the distinction of being one of the highest motorable mountain passes of India. A photographer’s paradise, the Kunzum Pass is frequented by bikers who stop here for the view. There is a Durga Temple that has a fair number of devotees visiting it throughout the year. From Kunzum Pass one can also get a glimpse of the Bara-Sigri Glacier, which is the world’s second largest glacier. Higher than even the Rohtang Pass, the Kunzum Pass separates Lahaul and Spiti Valley. It is a 75 km drive from Kaza.
Pin Valley National Park

Located close to Kaza is the Pin Valley National Park. It is a cold desert region flanked by the Great Himalayan National Park in the southwest and the Rupi Bhabha Sanctuary in the south. Extremely rich in flora and fauna, Pin Valley boasts of snow leopards and ibex. Surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains with sub-zero temperatures and snow covers for major part of the year, Pin Valley National Park is one of a kind and an experience.

Located on the banks of Spiti River, Tabo is a small town in Himachal Pradesh. Situated at a staggering altitude of 10,700 feet. Tabo has a beautiful monastery.
