Chandratal Lake

Translating literally to the lake of the moon, it is located at a height of 4300 m in the Himalayas. The lake gives a glimpse of the Chandra River. Interestingly, the water gains a variety of shades at different times of the day. You can trek from Batal to the lake, but the trail is difficult and you must be physically prepared for it. But the views are uncompromised and are beyond expression.

Key Monastery

Located at 4,166 m above sea level, this monastery is close to the Spiti River. It is almost a thousand years old and is school to aspiring Lamas. It is heard that the monastery was founded in 11th century by Dromton and has witnessed many attacks in the past but has braved them all. It also has an excellent collection of books and murals and has an architecture that is of interest to every historian.

Kunzum Pass

Kunzum La is every biker’s dream. Located at a height of 4,551 m above mean sea level, this stretch offers rugged mountains and massive glaciers to witness. The range allows you to soak your eyes with stunning views of the Chandrabhaga Range, Spiti valley and the Bara Shigri glacier. You can make a visit to the temple of Goddess Kunzum Devi and continue your exploration. You can also plan a trek from this pass to the Chandratal Lake, if you are in a mood to check the valley on foot.

Pin Valley National Park

Inaugurated in the year 1987, this park is home to several rare species of flora and fauna. Apart from spotting some rare species, you can also plan a trek. But the terrain is tough and you can choose either the Summer route which is accessible from July to October or Winter route which can be used from March to December. More than 20 rare and endangered medicinal species of plant have been identified here in Pin Valley National Park.

Located at a height of 4205 m above sea level, Khyipur offers you a glimpse of the mountain life. You can soak in the silence amidst these mountain ranges and stay in one of the rest houses, doing nothing much but watching the changing colours of skies. You can also pay a visit to Gette, which is the highest village in the world, located at 4270 m above sea level. 

Trilokinath Temple

Being close to both the religions of the Tibetan Buddhists and Hindus, the Trilokinath temple is situated amidst the hills. The green mountains covered with floating clouds almost make you realise god in this terrain. The Pauri festival that is held in the month of August is an auspicious time to pay respect to the god.

Baralacha Pass

This stretch connects the Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh in Jammu And Kashmir. The 8 km ride promises the views of Bhaga River and also lets you spot some interesting species of the region. You can also plan a trek as this pass is considered to be a centre for other treks as well.
