While the beginning of summers is cooler, the following months are very pleasant. This makes summers the ideal time to be in Dalhousie for a leisure holiday. You can enjoy the pleasant weather while sightseeing during the days. Evenings are cooler even during summers and it is advisable to carry light woolens for your trip. The average temperature during summer ranges between 15-30o Celsius. The weather begins to change as we approach June and monsoons strike by the mid of the month. This is the peak season for tourism and all hotels and tourist attractions tend to be jam-packed. Ensure your bookings are done well in advance for a more comfortable trip.

Despite having a distinct monsoon season, Dalhousie experiences moderate rainfall. The occasional showers transform the city into a heavenly scape of lush greens and lends a fresh romance to the air. This is the best time for honeymooners to visit this beautiful city because not too many tourists visit Dalhousie in the monsoons. With July and August being the wettest months, there is a chance of landslides during this period and so be prepared for occasional road blocks.

Winters (October to February)

Winters in Dalhousie are severe and only those who are accustomed to lower temperatures should plan a trip during this time. While the months of October and November are cold, the temperatures become very low only during December and January. February again becomes relatively warmer, beginning the transition to summer. Most travellers plan a tip in October and November to experience the pristine white winters of Dalhousie and take back memories of the occasional snowfall that occurs during this time. The average temperature during this time ranges between 4-11o Celsius and may reach freezing point during the nights or during the frequent snow falls in December and January. A trek in the snow is not to be missed for the seasoned travellers.

While in Dalhousie at any time of the year, make it a point to visit the Khajjiar Lake to witness why the place is aptly called the Mini Switzerland of India. You can also enjoy some fun activities there like paragliding, zorbing, etc.
