Summer (March to June)

The snow begins to melt and the Baes River starts to swell, summer is considered to be the best time to visit the valley of Kullu. With the thawing of ice, the valley opens itself for the numerous adventure seekers with activities like river rafting and paragliding. The temperature ranges from 20°C to 38°C and is the perfect escape from the extreme heat of Punjab region. Summers are usually when all the businesses are at peak and numerous shops and markets are a blessing for souvenir shopping. Given the peak season rush and the pouring of tourists, it would be wise to book accommodations well in advance.
Monsoon (July to September)

Located in the lower ranges of the Himalayas and at a height of about 4000 ft. Kullu doesn’t get affected too much during the monsoons with precipitations ranging from 4 mm to 11 mm. Kullu gets its major rainfall during the month of July with the precipitation lingering around 11 mm. The rains also play a major role in bringing the rising temperatures down. The monsoons are usually avoided, given the rainfall and the hindrance to go out and enjoy the scenic view of the valley. If you are looking for a quiet getaway with hot tea in a comfortable bed, the monsoons are the best time for you.

With ample snowfall and the blue in the air, the valley becomes a breathe-taking fairy-tale set during the winters. The temperature can fall to about 6°C and can get very cold, but with some warm clothes and proper gear, winters in the valley can be fun. With the continuous falling of snow, there are also places where one can go skiing and find numerous other adventure activities. The number of tourists also comes down and the season can make for a really pleasant time in the valley.
