Air is one of the fastest ways to reach Lachung. You can take a flight to Bagdogra (West Bengal) from any of India’s major cities and then travel by car or bus the rest of the way up to Lachung. It takes almost 7 hours to cover the distance of 195 km from Bagdogra to Lachung. The road drive is a thrilling recreational experience as you get to see beautiful rugged terrain mixed with tall green cover. In winters, all of those are covered in thick snow, making it a white wonderland.

Rail is a cheaper way to reach Lachung, considering Indian Railways are efficient and reasonably priced.
Lachung does not have its own railway station, but the nearest station is New Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) where major trains from Guwahati and West Bengal are very well connected. Lachung is another 127 km away from New Jalpaiguri. Private cabs as well as public buses ply from here.

People mostly prefer to travel to Lachung by road as Lachung is a hill staton. It has good roads and great connectivity with nearby towns. The ways are well maintained even during the thick of winter and snowfall. Gangtok is 113 km away, Darjeeling is 169 km away. You can drive up from either cities and enjoy the view on your way.
A number of buses, taxis and jeeps are available. Mostly SUVs and jeeps are used here to navigate rugged mountainous terrains.
