Palitana Station is the city’s main railway station which falls under the supervision and management of Western Indian Railways. The station has an elevation of 63 m, above the sea level with 2 platforms. However, there aren’t too many trains from Mumbai to Palitana. From Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and other major cities of India, there are no direct trains for Palitana. You will have to take connecting trains from Ahmedabad or Bhavnagar Terminus. Reaching Palitana by bus is more convenient. Being religiously and traditionally important, Palitana has good connectivity through roads. The roads leading to this city are well-maintained and offer a smooth ride. AC, non-Ac, Deluxe, Sleeper, Semi Sleeper buses are available at regular intervals from Surat, Mumbai, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar. It is at a distance of 680 km and takes about 14 hours. These buses are managed privately and by the state government of Gujarat under State Transport. There are many online channels from where you can book your tickets easily to Palitana from the source city.

Flights offer the fastest means of transport. To reach Palitana by flight, the nearest airport is at Bhavnagar and the next biggest airport is at Ahmedabad International Airport. Once you get down at any of these airports, you can take a bus or hire a private cab to reach the city. From Ahmedabad, Palitana is at a distance of some 280 km. So it might take around 5-6 hours from Ahmedabad. If possible try to book a flight from your city’s airport to Bhavnagar as Bhavanagar is at a distance of 40 km from Palitana. To move around in the city, there are multiple options available. The most convenient of them all is the local auto-rickshaw. Through auto-rickshaws, you can get around to any part of the city easily at an affordable price. But again, ensure you have discussed the fare before hiring one of them to avoid arguments and other issues later on. You can book them for a day or use them for small hops. If you like you can also use a horse-cart to have some fun while you move from one place to another. To move around the neighboring regions of the city, it is suggested to book a cab.
