Ranikhet is a charming hamlet situated at a height of 1829 meters above sea level. Arguably, Kumaon district's best kept secret, this beautiful hill-station literally means "Queens Farm". It is thriving with tourists throughout the year due to its majestic views of the Himalayas and surrounding landscapes. Tourism here is at its peak in the summer (March - July). Ranikhet does not have it's own airport or railway station. The closest airport can be found in Pantnagar (115 km) and Kathgodam is the closest railway station (75 km). Pantnagar Airport is the closest airport to Ranikhet, located some 115 km away. Multiple taxi and bus options to Ranikhet are available from Pantnagar Airport. There are around 1 daily and 4 weekly flights to Delhi from the airport. This is one of the most efficient ways to reach Ranikhet.

Ranikhet has well-connected motorways to majority of the North Indian cities in the Uttarkhand area. Delhi is about 360 km away and the drive to Ranikhet can be completed in around 10 hours. Alternatively there are private and state agency busses available to take visitors directly from Delhi to Ranikhet.

Kathgodam is the bordering station to Ranikhet, situated 75 km away. The station is well-connected via railway networks to majority of the major cities in and around Uttarakhand. The frequency of trains is also good. On arriving at the station, multiple bus and taxi options are present to take visitors to Ranikhet. This is another excellent way to reach Ranikhet.

Ranikhet is a relatively small town with very basic local transportation. Most of the major tourist spots here are walkable and it is recommended to explore the town on foot to truly soak up it’s charm. Nevertheless, both state as well as private buses and cars are accessible for visiting other areas in the Almora Region if necessary.
