Dehradun is the nearest city to Auli that has an Airport. The Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is 149 km away from Auli and is well connected to a few major Indian cities. You can take a taxi, bus or coach to Joshimath from where you can either travel to Auli by cable car or hit the road. The cable car ride is recommended though, for its added thrill, and also for the fact that it is quicker than travelling by road.

The mountains in India are also quite well connected by railway lines, thanks to the efficient Indian railways. Haridwar is the nearest railway station to Auli, situated 273 km away from this skiing haven. Haridwar station becomes your connecting point when visiting Auli by train. You can either hire a cab or a private car, or take one of the many State-run buses to Joshimath, from where Auli is only 10 km away. Again, you have the option of road or ropeway hereon.

Major cities of Uttarakhand ply regular buses to Joshimath (nearest road destination to Auli). You will find buses from Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar going to Joshimath. India's capital, Delhi, is also well connected to this pilgrim town.
From Joshimath, it is another 10 km to Auli by road or ropeway. The ropeway is advisable as it saves time and is a fun ride.
When travelling internally in Auli or to nearby places, you can hire a taxi, van or use buses. If there is ropeway connection, nothing better than a cable car.
