The closest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, 197 km away. The airport has multiple flight connectivity to Delhi and other major cities in the country. Taxis are available to and from Hanuman Chatti (base to trek to Yamunotri). Additionally, helicopter services are also available to Yamunotri. This is one of the best ways to reach Yamunotri.

Yamunotri is not directly connected via roadways. The closest motor able roadway ends at Hanuman Chatti. A 14 km trek from Hanuman Chatti is the only way to reach Yamunotri. However, Hanuman Chatti is well connected to the rest of the cities in and around Uttarakhand. There are multiple options via state or private agency bus and taxi services. Rishikesh is 212 km away and Jolly Grant Airport is approximately 197 km away.

Rishikesh Station is 212 km away on NH 58 and is also one of the closest stations to get to Hanuman Chatti. The train frequency back and forth is high, and it is well-connected via railways to other significant cities and towns in the area as well. Bus and taxi options are available directly from Rishikesh station to Hanuman Chatti. This is another one of the best and most efficient ways to get to Yamunotri.

Getting around the sacred town of Yamunotri is done primarily on foot or by hiring ponies on occasion. This is because the distances between the locations are relatively short and being a remote location, the town is shut for nearly six months of the year.
