Lisbon Weather And Best Time To Visit Lisbon
Planning A Trip To Lisbon? Here's a snapshot of Lisbon weather and the best time to visit Lisbon
The city of the seven hills, Lisbon sits happily perched on the Iberian Peninsula, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Tagus River. This imparts a typical Mediterranean climate to the city, with warm sultry summers and mildly cool winters. The best weather in Lisbon is experienced during its shoulder seasons but high tourism is seen in the peak of summer. The best time for you to visit Lisbon really depends on if you want to be a part of the crowd or experience the city in a quieter, more serene surroundings.
Spring (March to May)

Spring days in Lisbon are bright and sunny, cheery with all the winter gloom absorbed in the sun of the north. The average temperature remains swinging between 20ºC to 25ºC and some rainfall may be seen. All in all a great shoulder season before the crowd of summer makes the noise and bustle unbearable.
Summer (June to September)

August is the peak of summer and high on tourism, with a temperature range of 24-30°C. The season itself is a tourist hot favourite and everywhere is too crowded and everything is too expensive, from flights to accommodation. The skies are clear blue overhead and the sun shines for long brilliant hours, making exploring that much more fun. The beaches around the city are at their best and locals, Europeans as well as tourists descend by River Tejo to bathe in the sun’s heated dust.
The Feast of Saint Anthony is celebrated with great fanfare in summer, with street-dancing, parties, drinking, feasting on sardines and enjoying music.
Autumn (October to November)

Autumn in Lisbon means great sunshine and some cooler temperatures, with the range dropping to 15-23°C by October. Fado bars become all the rage and evenings are usually spent drinking by the locals in these bars, listening to music. There is lesser crowd around and tourists all turn back home. This is a good shoulder season to visit Lisbon and too beautiful to describe as the leaves turn golden and cast a yellow hallow over the city in afternoons and evenings.
Winter (December to February)

Lisbon’s winters are mild and rainy, with the influence of the river and peninsula near the Atlantic bringing in maritime climate. The average winter temperature lowers to 12ºC, going to the lowest of 5ºC. Snow is not seen, but rains are quite common. This is also the low season since the beaches are all no-go zones and everywhere that you would have enjoyed during summer is now cold and freezing. This means the rates are slashed on everything and you can get really cheap accommodation, travel options and even food and shopping.
