Since the climate in Naples is subtropical, the summers in the region are pretty hot and humid. Due to the location of the city being right next to the sea, the heat is controlled a bit and there are winds blowing all the time, making the heat quite bearable. But, in the crowded city, especially in traffic and densely populated areas, the heat is felt a lot more than near the shore. The south winds from Africa known as scirocco make the region hot, making the temperature rise to 36 °C (97 °F) to 38 °C (100 °F). Although precipitation reduces during this time, thunderstorms are common, accompanied by light drizzles. This is a good time to visit the Neapolitan Riviera and relax in the warm sands and enjoy the sea breeze.

Winds that come from the north make it rain and in the mountains it falls as snow and hence it is possible to see snowfall in Naples as well, especially in the mountainous areas. Temperatures in winter range from 13 °C (55 °F) during afternoons to 6 °C (43 °F) in the night, sometimes dropping down to sub zero levels. Not a lot of people visit during this time, so if you are fond of the cold and want to get away from the crowd, winter may be the best time for you to visit.
