Pune Weather And Best Time To Visit Pune

Planning A Trip To Pune? Here's a snapshot of Pune weather and the best time to visit Pune

Pune has a tropical weather, though the months are considered pleasant throughout the year. Pune lies in the leeward or rain shadow region of the Western Ghats and does not receive as much torrential rains in monsoon as the city of Mumbai, that’s in the windward side. There are some of the most picturesque places that can be visited in monsoon or winter. You could visit Pune any time of the year, but there are the winter months that are predominantly idyllic for a trip.

The best period to visit Pune would preferably be the months from October to March.

In summer, days are hot but early mornings and evenings are pleasant due to Pune’s high altitude, so you don’t have to remain cooped up in your room but venture out on exploring the city after sunset. April is the warmest month, and May with its mango showers cools down the region a little. Summer is still oppressively hot and not deemed a touristy period.

Monsoon (July - October)

Monsoon months are pleasant but the city does receive moderate to heavy rainfall from the southwest monsoon that might disrupt the daily routine. July is the wettest month. Monsoon is considered a lean tourist season. But there are some of the most beautiful locations near Pune that do look great during monsoon, like Lonavala, Rajmachi and Kamshet, especially when you are in the mood for a trek up the mist covered slopes.

The days are breezy and pleasant, with nippy nights and clear skies. Tourists would find that winter is the best period for sightseeing and indulging in adventure tourism. Pune has a ‘rosy winter’ when it does look real cold and lovely with misty mornings, warm noons and cold evenings. Keep your winter wear handy, for nights tend to turn very cold at times. Hill stations with their monsoon filled waterfalls and emerald green carpeted slopes call for a wild winter voyage. Set off to Pashan Lake, Sinhagad valley or Bhigwan for winter's bird watching.
