Ujjain Weather And Best Time To Visit Ujjain

Planning A Trip To Ujjain? Here's a snapshot of Ujjain weather and the best time to visit Ujjain

The 5000 years old city of Ujjain was once upon a time a hub for trade with the rest of the world in silks, precious stones and perfumes. Its famed temples and other architecture were vandalized and desecrated during the period of the Mughals. Today several of the old temples have been rebuilt or repaired extensively. Ujjain is one of the favourites among visitors and globe trotters. The weather in Ujjain tends to be hot in summer and cold in winter. The best time to visit Ujjain is between October and March when the temperature is around 20°C. However, Ujjain is fairly pleasant during the monsoon as well.

The climate of Ujjain is tropical, especially with the tropic of cancer passing through the temple Karkoteshwar near the famous Harsiddhi Mandir. Summer starts here around by mid-March and generally lasts till late June. The temperature here could go up to around 40.4°C in May. It is preferable not to visit Ujjain in summer as the heat is stifling and unbearable for non-locals.

Monsoon (July to September)

Ujjain is pleasant during monsoon since the rainfall is moderate and not heavy. Monsoon is therefore a good time to visit Ujjain. The rainfall is around 101 mm in June and peaks to around 229 mm in September. The maximum temperature during July and September is around 30°C while the minimum temperature drops to about 21.8°C.

Winter (October to March)

Ujjain is very beautiful during winter, when the temperature averages 25°C in October and 19°C in December. There are times when the temperature dips to 3°C, but this is a rare occurrence. This season is the best to go around town, visit temples, ruins and shop from the markets. You will not be tired by the heat or the sun's glare and can enjoy the hot kesar milk, sweets and other savoury snacks off the carts.
