Aligarh does not have an airport inside the city, but is very close to Delhi, the capital. Hence, the closest airport that serves the city of Aligarh is the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. This airport is located at a distance of about 148 km from the center of Aligarh city and is a highly busy airport. Several flight carriers like Indigo, Air India, Go Air and many more operate from this airport, taking passengers to and fro from different cities to Aligarh and vice versa. You can find a lot of flights that make it easier for people commuting internationally as well. Once you reach the airport, you can take any form of public transportation to reach Aligarh city; this is approximately a 3.5 hour journey.

The main railhead that connects Aligarh to other cities is the Aligarh Junction which is distanced at 2.9 km from the center of the city. This is the most convenient way to reach Aligarh as the train drops you off very close to the city. There are over 136 trains that pass through Aligarh everyday and take passengers to and fro from different cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and many more. The Aligarh Junction is the main railway station, but there are several other smaller railway stations where passengers can get off, depending on where their stay is in the city. Once you get off at the railway station, you can take a bus, cab or a rickshaw to commute to your desired destination.
