To get to Evora, international travellers will have to first fly in to Lisbon Portela Airport which is around 132 km away. There is no active domestic airport in Evora for visitors and hence driving down, renting a bus or taxi to get to Evora is the only way to reach. Luckily the Lisbon Airport is well-connected to almost all major European destinations and the rest of the country. There are excellent transit services available and a high frequency of daily flights for visitors to choose from.

A more affordable but time consuming, using the Rede Expressos bus service from Lisbon’s Sete Rios Bus Station is the best way to get to Evora locally. It is time efficient and tickets can be purchased online or in-person as well. The travel time is approximately 1.5 hours and there are a high frequency of air-conditioned busses available for visitors to choose from depending on their time of departure. Alternatively, visitors can also rent a public taxi or car and drive down themselves if desired. The journey is a little long but offers lovely views of the countryside.

Lisbons Oriente Railway Station is the focal point for all travel by rail to Evora. There is additionally a local bus and metro station located in the same complex as well. There are multiple daily trains departing to Evora and tickets are slightly more expensive as compared to the local bus service. However, on the flipside the journey time might be shorter. The Evora Station is only 500 meters away from the city, making travel via rail another one of the best ways to reach.

The city is relatively small in size and can be scaled most efficiently by foot. There are additional local bus and taxi transportation services available at rather affordable rates. For visitors driving down, using their own to get around the city is advised.
