This UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the districts of Nagaon and Golaghat in Assam is a dense wildlife reserve flanked by the mighty Brahmaputra River to the north and Karbi Anglong Hills on the south. It boasts of being the sole natural habitat in the world that is the home to the largest number of one-horned rhinos. The Jorhat Airport and Guwahati International Airport are located at a distance of 97 km and 217 km from the national park respectively. The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is connected with all major Indian cities like Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai etc. Private and national carriers operate regular flights to and from Guwahati. From the airport one can hire a taxi or a bus to reach the park. Roads connecting the airports to the park are well maintained.

Furkating is the closest railway station to Kaziranga located 75 km from the park. This station has trains running to and from major cities like Guwhati, Delhi, Kolkata etc. Apart from this there are two major railheads close to the park, the Guwahati Railway Station and Jorhat Railway Station located 240 km and 90 km from Kaziranga respectively. These are two big stations of the Northeast railways and hence enjoy better connectivity with neighbouring cities and with the rest of the country. From the stations tourists can hire taxis or avail of bus service to reach the park.

The main entrance to the national park lies in a small Kohora town which is on National Highway 37. By virtue of its location Kohora is well connected with major cities of Assam like Jorhat, Tezpur, Guwahati, Golaghat, Dimapur, Nagaon etc. The State transport corporation and private companies have regular buses plying between Kohora and other small towns situated in the adjacent areas.

By virtue of being a national park, public transportation and private taxis are not permitted within Kaziranga. To explore the park, safaris are organised. They include jeeps and elephants. Only four-wheeled vehicles that are authorised by the National Park are permitted within the forest premises.
