Nha Trang is a stunning coastal town and arguably the most famous of its kind in Vietnam, often being referred to as the gem of the South China Sea. Its combination of historic wonders, natural beauty and bustling cultural influences makes this a must-visit city when exploring Vietnam. The town is best visited by catching a domestic flight to Cam Ranh Airport nearby via one of the neighbouring cities. Alternatively visitors can also take the longer but more scenic journey via train to Nha Trang Railway Station. The weather here is primarily divided into the Dry Season and Monsoon Season, with the latter not being a good time to visit due to heavy showers and the added danger of typhoons and flooding.

Tourism in Nha Trang is at its peak from February to May when rainfall is at its lowest and humidity significantly reduces as well. There are a wide variety of outdoor adventure sports on offer like sailing, diving and trekking around the surrounding countryside. Additionally, the bustling nightlife and food scene here is an added bonus. This travel guide is the perfect one-stop shop for all information about this beautiful town of Nha Trang.

By Air:

The closest airport is Cam Tranh Airport 37 km away. However, with no direct flights to this airport, visitors will be required to fly out to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City and catch a connecting flight to get to Nha Trang. This is the most convenient way for international passengers to reach their destination.

By Road:

With daily busses from Dalat and Ho Chi Minh, this is one of the longest but most affordable ways to get to Nha Trang. Additionally visitors should anticipate delays in the bus schedules.

By Rail:

Slighty more expensive than taking a bus, taking a train to Nha Trang Railway Station is also one of the most popular ways to reach the coastal town. Although the journey is long, visitors can enjoy scenic views during the journey.

Additionally, fish sauce, curries and local produce is often used in majority of the dishes prepared. From street markets to luxury restaurants there is delicious cuisine to suit all visitor’s budgets. In keeping with the coastal town’s character Nha Trang’s shopping scene has a much more laid back and simple vibe in comparison to other cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi’s congested malls and modern stores. Roadside marketplaces like the famous Vinh Luong and Dam are ideal for people watching as well purchasing local handicrafts, artworks, jewellery and clothes. The shops are much humbler but visitors can still find some quality souvenirs to take back home for loved ones.
