Panna National Park Weather And Best Time To Visit Panna National Park

Planning A Trip To Panna National Park? Here's a snapshot of Panna National Park weather and the best time to visit Panna National Park

Panna National Park is a very fragile and yet dynamic but dry forest in MP. The Park was declared as one among the several Tiger Reserve Forests in India in 1994-95. It was then placed under the Project Tiger authority. The Park has struggled to keep its tiger population safe from poachers. In March 2009 two female tigers were relocated to the Park from Kanha and Bandhavgarh Parks. The weather in Panna National Park is typically what one would expect in a hot tropical climate. The best time to visit the park is between November and May. However, if you wish to see lots of birds and would like a mild climate, you can visit the Park between November and January.

Panna experiences scorching summers. However, the temperature does not rise till April. The temperatures range between 15 and 40°C. It may climb up to 45°C also. Sightseeing in such temperatures is naturally most uncomfortable especially out in the open. However, an early summer in Panna is great for animal sightings.

Panna has a very flexible monsoon season each year. However, generally the monsoon starts in June and ends in September. This is probably the worst time one can select for visiting the park. The forest receives a good amount of rains and this means lush greenery everywhere, swollen streams and pools and all the animals bouncing and traipsing in their natural habitat. The annual rainfall averages to around 1100 mm.

Winter (October-February)

Winters in Panna are bone chillingly cold. During February and March the Park remains cool, while the temperatures range between 16°C and 26°C. The temperature can sometimes drop to 3°C when you may find the crocodiles basking in the sun. Dress for the weather and prepare for a tiger sighting! Winter is admittedly the best period to visit the a Park and enjoy long sightseeing and animal safaris, with the sun warm on your cool skins and the nip in the air that makes everything else wonderful.
