How To Reach Narkanda

Planning A Trip To Narkanda? Here are some guidelines on how to reach Narkanda

Narkanda is a small town in the district of Shimla and is a winter wonderland for many. This town is situated at an altitude of 9000 ft. from sea level on Hindustan-Tibet road and is known for its pristine beauty and natural apple orchards. Majestic hills and woodlands surround Narkanada, making it a perfect tourist spot for anyone looking for a change in their daily lives. You can reach Narkanda by air, road and rail, depending on your budget and also the distance from your city to Narkanda. While it is more convenient and faster to travel by air, taking a train or the roadways is more exciting for the adventure hearted.

Also, taking the train is easier on the pockets as compared to taking a flight. If you want to enjoy the charm of the north, and its untouched beauty, driving up there or going by rail is the best option.

Since there is no airport in Narkanda, passengers can use airports in the neighbouring cities to travel to this quaint town. The closest one is the Shimla airport, also known as Jubbarhatti Airport, which is located at a distance of 155 km from Narkanda. However, the Shimla airport is small and has limited flights; due to this very reason, you can also reach the town via Chandigarh airport, which is connected to a lot more flights and is located at a distance of 185 km. Major flights bring passengers from different cities to both Shimla and Chandigarh Airport, though the connectivity of Chandigarh airport is better. It may cost you a little more to go by air, but it is a faster and a more comfortable way to travel.

Travelling by train, especially to cities in the north is an amazing experience. The view outside the window, with green trees and clear valleys passing by in a jiffy is absolutely amazing. Narkanda does not have a railway station of its own and the nearest one is the Shimla Railway Station, located at a distance of about 76 km from the town of Narkanda.
