Although flights are the fastest way to get to Kufri, it does not have an airport of its own. The nearest one is Jubbarhatti Airport, which is located in Shimla at a distance of 34 km. The Chandigarh airport is also close by, at a distance of 66 km from Kufri. Leading airlines like Indigo, Spice Jet, Go Air and Air India ply back and forth from major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatta and Chennai, to the Chandigarh Airport. If you want to explore this beautiful hill station, the best way to do it is by foot. You can also hire a cab, but not all places in Kufri are accessible by cabs. You can choose to travel by local busses that are facilitated by the government, but the higher areas have small roads that cannot be meandered by these busses, hence they ply only in and around the city. If you want to travel on a higher altitude, the most convenient mode of transportation is to travel on horseback or on a yak. Since the roads are narrow, it is difficult to maneuver a big vehicle, therefore travelling horseback is suggested. This way the tourist can also get an authentic feel of the place.
