Ko Pha-Ngan Weather And Best Time To Visit Ko Pha-Ngan
Planning A Trip To Ko Pha-Ngan? Here's a snapshot of Ko Pha-Ngan weather and the best time to visit Ko Pha-Ngan
Ko Pha Ngan is an island in the Surat Thani province of Thailand, located in the Central Gulf of Thailand. The place is renowned for its (in)famous Full Moon Parties that are a party haven for those who like to pump their hips to beats and enjoy night-long drinking and boozing by the beach. Unlike the other Thai islands and even the mainland, Ko Pha Ngan weather is dependent on its four almost distinct seasons, making some seasons not too good while others great for a visit.
The Cool Season (December to February)

This is the relatively cooler season in Ko Pha Ngan, with the temperatures dipping marginally to give you the illusion of a ‘Thai’ winter. That also means that these months are high on tourists and everywhere you see there are hoards of them spilling out. Since the Full Moon parties are also put up at this time so the accommodations are all full, overbooked in fact, and rates go up everywhere. So unless you want to go for these Full Moon parties, try and avoid this period.
The Hot Season (March to June)

The months from March onwards are dry and very hot. There might be very little rain but not enough to give respite. Even though this is the low season because of heat, you can still get yourself an air-conditioned hotel room near the beaches and enjoy your time by the sea, especially if you are coming from a cold, wet, gloomy place already. Accommodations are cheaper and great deals are also available.
The Pre Monsoon (July to September)

This is the transition season, one that is hot but slightly wet, with more rainfall than the previous months. Again a good time as the rains kill the tropical heat but don’t disrupt water activities and other sports for you yet. Tourism is also relatively low so this is a good time to visit too.
The Monsoon (October and November)

The months of October and November bring in the proper monsoon season in Ko Pha Ngan, with very dense and heavy rainfall. It might not rain daily but when it does, it pours. The temperatures don’t go down drastically but remain soggily warm, with the sea choppy. Some beautiful thunder storms may also brew on the horizon. This means most water activities like diving, swimming, boating etc are cancelled for the period. Not a great time to visit as there isn’t much you can do.
